Dance Evening 2016
“Wonderful to see such joy and energy on stage!”
Tuesday 29 November 7.00pm parents and friends were bustling at the door of the dance studio which was bursting at the seams…..with a sense of nervous anticipation Dance Evening 2016 was about to begin.
Dance Evening is the one opportunity in the school year when dancers from all year groups come together to perform an extravaganza of dance and this year was no different. Over 100 students from Year 7 to Year 13 took part in a slick and exciting performance; one dancer described the experience as “really enjoyable… a nice atmosphere because everyone is so excited”.
The show opened calmly and with dignity as Year 11 students performed their assessed dances based on the professional work Perfect. The first half built in intensity with a variety of pieces with themes including journeys from Year 7, Street dance from Year 8, 11 and 13 to curriculum work showing dance styles from Year 8. It then finished with Pulse performing a beautiful and thoughtful dance.
After a moment to reflect, with interval refreshments kindly supplied by CPAN, it was straight back in with an exciting and challenging piece by Year 9 G&T students (please take the time to watch their performance attached). Again, the dances were varied, well performed and the show closed with a high quality piece created by the Year 13 dancers and a calm, mature piece of work by Year 10 dancers. Look out next week for a video of the highlights.
A run away success, in the words of a departing audience…….
